JESUS IN NAZARETH…VBS

We are so excited!!! VBS planning has been going on for two months, seriously two months! and now we are going to have our first VBS Volunteer Interest Meeting.

This Sunday at 4:30 pm in the Treehouse we will have our first Vacation Bible School Meeting.  Here is what we are praying for VBS and kids ministry throughout the year at CCBC.

“This one will say, ‘I am the LORD’S,’ another will call on the name of Jacob, and another will write on his hand, ‘The LORD’S,’ and name himself by the name of Israel.”   (Isaiah 44:5)

What my ESV Study Bible notes tell me this verse is an image of ONE ENTHUSIASTIC CONVERSION TO THE LORD AFTER ANOTHER!  Wouldn’t that be absolutely amazing to be a witness to?????? Imagine our children, one after another, after another proclaiming that they belong to the LORD?  That they will follow Him?  I believe it. So that is my prayer this year, we are pouring in and pouring in and pouring in and praying for the OUTPOURING of the Holy Spirit.  VBS, you see, is like revival for children, a time to meet the Lord, find out he loves you and has a plan for you and a time to respond to that love.  For children who already say “I am the Lord’s”, its a time of refreshing and unashamed worship and Bible study.  I want to be a part of that special week aimed at kids!

Here are some things we will learn at the VBS meeting on Sunday…

  • SPEND A DAY IN NAZARETH…video overview of what Marketplace VBS looks like
  • WHAT I CAN DO IN NAZARETH…all the great places to work with kids
  • INTRODUCE YOU TO OUR GOD-PICKED VBS TEAM (Elaine Booher, Robin Williams and Amy Martin)
  • PRAY
  • BREAK INTO CHILDREN AND PRESCHOOL GROUPS for details

This year’s VBS theme is from one of our favorite publishers…GROUP PUBLISHING…We love so many things about their Holy Land Adventure VBS themes.  “HOMETOWN NAZARETH: Where Jesus was a Kid”.  As you are visiting Nazareth, you will encounter Mary, Jesus’ mom, and hear from shopkeepers in the Marketplace all telling stories about Jesus as a kid!

Come taste, see and hear more this Sunday at 4:30 pm in the Children’s Building Treehouse. See you there.
